Police enquiries into the whereabouts of Tom McMorrow, from Penrith, who has been missing for more than a week, have been continuing today. Tom was last seen at the Inn on the Lake at Ullswater. His friends and family have been conducting their own searches and his mum Eulyth has thanked all those who have helped.

Here's an update from United Utilities about water pressure problems in Workington - a team of engineers have arrived on site and repairs to the burst water pipe near scout camp at Branthwaite have started. A spokesman said "We're working hard to fix the pipe as quickly as we can to get your taps flowing normally again."

Fancy trying your hand at treading the boards? Whitehaven Theatre Group is holding auditions for its upcoming production of The Full Monty in April. A new project called 'Treasures of Cumbria’ will launch at The Wave in Maryport on Thursday. The project records, shares and debates what people value about Cumbria. A roadshow will follow with the first stop at Tullie House in Carlisle on Friday, The Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal on Saturday, the covered market in Barrow on January 24, Keswick market on January 25 and Penrith Leisure Centre on January 26.

Carlisle Youth Zone has reopened after a burst pipe forced its closures. A torrent of water flowed through the multi-million pound building – wrecking ceilings and leaving pools of water up to 3ins deep. It was closed on Friday but reopened on Saturday after a swift clean-up operation to make the area safe. The Youth Zone, on Victoria Place, is used by up to 1,000 children every week.
The burst pipe was in an upstairs toilet. The leak started sometime overnight on Thursday -

The copycats often charge more than the official cost of receiving items like visas and tax returns. People are advised to read each site carefully to avoid being duped.

In a double boost for Gretna Gateway, it has revealed that fashion giant Superdry will be opening a store in March. It will sell a wide range of casual clothing and accessories with the brand’s trademark urban and streetwear influences and combinations of Vintage Americana, Japanese imagery and British tailoring. The store is expected to employ up to 15 full and part time staff.

In trade news...Gretna Gateway is celebrating a record-breaking year. The outdoor shopping centre in Dumfries & Galloway says total sales for in 2013 have risen by nine per cent on 2012, with like-for-like sales up by six per cent. Shopper numbers last year also passed the 2 million mark for the first time - beating last year’s best-ever figures.
