Hope I'm not tempting fate, but it's all quiet on the roads across Cumbria as we get towards 'rush hour'. No incidents or problems being reported.
And it's the same on the railways as well. No reports of incidents or delays from either Northern Rail or Virgin. -

Evidence used to jail wife-killer Gordon Park is still being investigated by an independent watchdog. The former teacher’s family launched a fresh bid to clear his name in 2010.
The Criminal Cases Review Commission says it cannot say how long the probe will take but added that it had been under active investigation for some time. It will look at all the evidence and police files to see if the case should go before the Court of Appeal. -

TV Licensing is reminding pubs and clubs to make sure they are correctly covered. Any pub, club or sporting venue which shows live television must have a valid licence. If there is living accommodation on the premises where a TV is also in use, this must be covered by a separate licence. Pubs without a valid licence run the risk of a court prosecution and fine of up to £1,000 per offence plus costs.

Labour MP John Woodcock obtained the figures through a parliamentary question and has written to Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin for an explanation as to why serious accidents and lengthy road closures had “risen spectacularly”. -
